Our friends son was diagnosed with Crohns (sp) Disease when they were very active.
Shortly after they DA'd the son is off his medications.
They aren't the type of people to lie...so maybe he was cured?

i'm looking for people who have had the experience of becoming very sick with chronic pain, an auto-immune disease, or some major health problem (collitus, diabetes, etc.
) while being involved with jehovah's witnesses, who then had a complete reversal after leaving the jehovah's witnesses.. i am planning to write a book about my experience, and i'd like to get an idea of how many people out there have had a similar one.
i was diagnosed with advanced grave's disease (hyperthyroid), which is an auto-immune disease, and it amazingly "went away" shortly after i left the organization.

we were out christmas shopping and drove past the kingdom hall.
7:30 pm on a saturday night..not an empty parking space to be found.
there were more cars than when the memorial happens.. drove by at 9:30 pm and more than 3/4's of the parking lot was still full.... why would there be a meeting?

Why would there be a meeting? Hubby said maybe a special needs talk or the CO visiting.
On a side note....Both houses on the sides of the KH were obnoxiously decorated with Christmas lights...I mean Christmas light overkill with the blow up Christmas things and many a plastic reindeer.
I am going to go back and try to get a picture because it really made my day but then I felt bad for all the jw kids who have to go by it on their way to the meetings...made me sad for them.
I'm done.

since defd is not here to start this one as he normally would... (sorry, i know it's a bit late for some.).
what's everyone doing on the weekend?.
my office is having a gathering tonight to have drinks and discuss recent changes and welcome our temps.. the rest of the weekend i'll spend shopping and hanging.
Darling husband and I are taking our two wonderful boys to see Santa and have their pictures taken.
We will be doing some form of home improvment torture as usual since we own a beastly old church that is now our house that was built in 1899.
We will also be going to see the beautiful christmas displays at La Salette Shrine http://www.lasalette-shrine.org/lasalettechristmas.htm

i was just wandering.... was it just me or was everyone thinking about it..... ive been in a few congs where some of the sisters were absolutely drop dead gorgeous!
my last cong here in sydney, there was about 160 publishers so the talent was every where... i remember having the hots for this sister, who happens to be the wife of the service overseer... she was xxx hot.
i remember always having to wear my suit coat to the meeting to hide my excitement.. i think all the bro's must have thought the same thing.
At the last hall my husband and I went to there were an inordinate amount of frighteningly ugly people.
I swear one of the MS was a transvestite. The man had breasts and you could see his nipples through his shirts....bleck! They looked like women's breasts.
There was one sister that had a beard and wirey hairs growing out of her mole on her nose.
We also had another MS who had massive birthmarks all over his face.
Then there were the PO's who thought that pompadours were still in style.....
I always felt sorry for the people who got the knock from those people!
WG - of the I know its mean to make fun of ugly people class...
since nate merit has already enumerated some of his pranks, how about sharing your pranks/mischief?
this forum could do with some laughter.
in my school days (50's) my buddy and i were always into mischief (witness or not.
My biggest prank was in high school. It was the week of the homecoming football game - the cross town rivalry.
A local produce stand had a huge chicken statue out front - There was a sign about a mile before the stand that said " Why did the chicken cross the road....to get to ________ fruit and produce.
My boyfriend and a bunch of the other guys on the team and their girlfriends and me stole the chicken. It was a huge 8 foot tall chicken made of some kind of plastic. We cut its legs off with a sawzall because it was concreted to the ground. We stuck it in the back of a horse trailer and put it into the pool at our rival high school. We dumped a whole bunch of purple jello into the pool because it was our school color.
Our whole class had to come up with $800 to repair the chicken and clean the pool.
Second biggest prank was against my mother....We went camping every year at this campground that had only one light in the bathrooms and it wasn't over the toilets. My cousin and I put toothpaste all over the toilet seats. My mom went in and brushed her teeth then went to the bathroom and ended up with a minty fresh butt...we could hear her cursing and yelling from our tent. My grandparents heard us laughing and my mother cursing and figured out that we had done something. We had to clean the toilets...but it was worth it!

i asked defd about this, and he said no.
when i was 18, none of my family members were really allowed to associate with me unless it was for a family emergency.
they could'nt invite me over and eat with me.
I think it depends on the people.
I think most normal people in the congregation still will smile, hug, or speak with disfellowshipped ones because they are trying to encourage people to come back and get reinstated.
Other people get off on being mean and will use this as an Jehovah sanctioned opportunity to show everyone just how cold they can be.
Good friends of ours who are now XJW's said they always were kind to the disfellowshipped friends because (in her words) - " We have 3 kids one of them is going to do something."
I really liked what she said and I wish more people would take that kind of approach.

our child goes to an after school child care provide by the local y. it's right at her elementary school, so after class she just goes there to another class room with the other kids and they play games, do homework etc, till we pick her up after work.
she's gone there for two years and liked it.
she has lots of friends at school and gets along with just about everyone.
Hi Doodle,
A lot of great suggestions have been made already.
We belong to the Y also and I know that ours has a code of conduct for all members. I would check out if yours has the same.
Also, if the Y fails to protect your daughter you can contact the state or county childcare licensing facilities and let them know what is happening. I can guarantee you that they will take it very seriously.
Also, you may want to prepare your daughter in case she ends up alone in the bathroom or some other area with these 2 mean girls. Our niece was beaten up by 2 girls in the bathroom and called a n*gger because she's bi-racial at school when she was 7 or 8 years old. I wish my sister in law had told her, if you see these girls - go the opposite way. It would have saved a lot of heart ache and the police being involved.

i've written about this many times here.
my jehovahs witness mother in law has decided that she wants to be a part of our life again (this week).
we have basically disfellowshipped her from our lives because she refuses to follow our rules.
An update.
My husband spoke to her last night in the car as we were going to get some dinner. She wants to give us her snowblower. It's about 15 years old and broken...but she thinks we can use it! Oh yeah......how generous.
My husband asked our oldest son if he wanted to talk to Grammy on the phone while we were in the car and he yelled....cause he was in a bad mood yesterday....I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO HER!!! And she heard it.....
This apparently prompted her to say...I wish I could have spent more time with the kids.
My husband said something to the effect of ....You could have at anytime.
Then she proceeded to ask him home improvement questions...this is the usual Modus Operandi. She was asking questions about her stove and he told her how to go up on the roof and clean the chimney pipe herself...LOL! Usually he would have done this for her...
So I think it's not that she wants to see the kids...its that she wants to see her handyman. My husband used to do all kinds of work for her around her house and on her car... but when she wouldn't treat our family nicely... he stopped doing anything for her. He said why should I do work for you - you can't be nice to my wife and you aren't fair to my children...

has anyone else seen the jdubs at the shopping mall ??
they sit at a table with all of their wares displayed hoping to lure people away from pottery barn and macy's.
i did a double take when i saw this and then had to stand back and observe for about 20 minutes -- what i observed is that no one stops at the table except what appear to be fellow jdubs.
I have seen the Mormons across from the Jehovahs Witnesses at the Solano Mall in Fairfield California.
We have also received random mailings from someone in the local KH here in Massachusetts. The person didn't know me or my husband and it was a very light and fluffy letter with a brochure and a phone number if we wanted a free bible study.

You know Jgnat...you are right. I am love blind.
He and I have agreed over and over that she is disfellowshipped from our lives because of her behavior. Its not me that says...hey lets go see your Mom. It's him.
It usually starts with....I got a phone call from my Mom today.
And I am the daughter my mother raised me to be...I am a people pleaser and I don't like it when someone doesn't like me and I think even a part of me is hoping that someday everything will be all rainbows and chocolate bars....but then the realistic pessimist part of me that's been around the block a few times knows that it's never going to be that way with this woman.
She consistently breaks our rules and he also doesn't enforce them because he doesn't see what' she's doing as a problem...This is just how his mom is and how she has always been and I need to change my mindset (that's what he says to me).
He always tells me that I need to change and be more forgiving. I never had these kinds of problems with people before this woman came into my life. Most people like me and think I'm a very nice and kind person! I don't know if it's a JW thing or a mental illness thing...because there is plenty of that to go around.
As I said before I am being a Shmuck and I should be stronger and just protect my boys.
I'm done with my emotional spew...sorry.
